Well, it’s time for school to start again :(…but then again we have it kind of easy around here. No book bags, lunch boxes or school bus rides for us (whaaat??)…yep, we homeschool and we love it! As parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children the ins and outs, the rights and wrongs, the goods and bads of life. But, for our family, my husband and I felt it would be more beneficial for us to homeschool our kids as well. When I was pregnant with our first son, I had a full time job with a promise of more pay when I came back from maternity leave. But as the days came closer to meet my firstborn, it was evident to me I could not go back to work and miss out on time with my son. That decision in turn made us think about homeschooling when the time came. Now, having been homeschooling my boys for the past four years, I’m so happy with my decision to do so. I have been able to not only teach them how to read, write, and add, but I get to spend more time with them learning how they think and what their interests are. They get the one on one attention that they would not get in public school, which helps me learn their weaknesses and play to their strengths.(NOTE: I, myself went to public school and I applaud all the teachers who invest their time and energy into their students education..for it is not an easy job! Go Teachers!!)
It has been very rewarding as a mama to watch your children smile as they perfectly write their name for the first time or tell you what 5+7 is without using their fingers!:) Homeschooled or not, your children’s education is important to their future and will mold and shape who they will become, what they will believe and their morals and values. And that..that is worthy of my time and attention and why I choose to homeschool my children. Hope everyone has a great school year and may God bless you and your family!
